Kalamaki village is located 7 km to the south-west of Zakynthos town and 2km from the airport. Kalamaki's long beach is an extension of  Laganas golden sandy coastline and is superb with crystal clear blue water. You may rent umbrellas and sun beds on the beach, and there are taverns and restaurants close to the beach. Most of the people prefer the middle of the beach, but if you walk a little more, you may discover greater, quieter spots. There are also several parking spaces adjacent to the beach Remember, the sandy beach at Kalamaki is also the reproduction place of the famous Caretta-Caretta sea turtle. It is a seaside resort and a nice choice for quiet and relaxing holidays. There are boats with glass bottoms, from which you can watch the turtles in their natural environment. There are also small boats that take tourists to remote beaches. Take the opportunity to visit Marathonissi island, where the beach is also a reproduction area of the Caretta-Caretta turtle.

You will find many excellent restaurants and taverns in Kalamaki, offering menus from traditional Greek cuisine, but also from English, Chinese, and Italian ones as well. Even if you like fast-food, you won´t miss it! Furthermore, some of the restaurants and the taverns offer live Greek music shows with traditional singing and dancing.

Nightlife in Kalamaki is relatively quiet, compared to Laganas. Although there is a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and bars to select the type of entertainment you like.
